We go through ups and downs as people and human beings. The theme was just me kind of going through a year or two of making changes in my life and figuring out who I am through all of that. I feel like they kind of mirror each other. When I’m trying to make a record, I like to think of brother-sister tracks where it’s like “Gossip” and “Trouble” are similar to each other. I think that there are certain songs that came as their own, and there are songs that fit together. In an interview with Alternative Press, Kellin Quinn was asked if there was an overall theme to the album. To me, ‘Gossip’ is an album for any situation or feeling. While we’re on the topic of the lyrics, this is where Sleeping With Sirens topped off their wholeheartedness and passion with this album. Vocally, Kellin Quinn does not engage in his his normal high pitched expressions as frequently like he has on previous albums yet, when combined with the lyrics, it works.
